Providing 15 Meagwatts of power to Iraq
It all started up in Bradford, where there was a STOR site (Short Term Operating Reserve) with 12 x 1250 kVA FG Wilson P1250P3’s that were no longer required. As FW Power is known in the industry for being able to quickly deal with such sites we were selected for the job. However, it is no small fete removing 15 Megawatts of power and then there is also the aspect of being able to sell them.
From an initial site visit we could see that the generators were housed in large soundproof canopies, which was great for the local area as it kept the noise levels down. However, from a removals point of view this made it a little bit more challenging. The generator skid mounted unit needed to be removed from the soundproof enclosure. FW Power dismantled the enclosures on site.
As you can imagine the whole project took meticulous planning, coordination and logistical expertise. We worked closely with transport and crane companies to ensure the lifts and removals were done efficiently but safely.
Through years of providing the best possible service we are grateful and fortunate that we have many contacts and customers around the World, and we knew of a demand for 15 Megawatts in Iraq. Iraq suffers from unstable power yet demand for power there grows. Diesel Generators are a reliable and trustworthy power source and are favoured in countries where they do not have a stable Grid.
FW power facilitated the export of the 12 FG Wilson 1250 kVA’s to Iraq and then the re-assembly and commissioning in Iraq. This just demonstrates our ability to provide turnkey yet complex power solutions not just within the Uk but to logistically demanding places.
The FG Wilson P1250P3 is a great option for countries such as Iraq due to its ability to operate in high ambient temperatures.
